BIG things are getting ready to happen in Texas! BIG, I tell you! Vintage Markets - March 2011 **Texas Antique Week**

I’m talking about Texas Antique Week and up until I researched and wrote this post, I wasn’t clear exactly what Texas Antique Week is.

Now I am! It’s dozens and dozens (no one seems to know exactly how many) of separate, simultaneous shows, all with their own dates, locations and times.  There’s no one single group or organization responsible for Antique Week – most shows and events are independently operated.

Here’s the deal:
Between Houston and Austin there’s a series of small towns: Warrenton, Round Top, Carmine,
Shelby & Fayetteville
to name a few, where thousands of antique & vintage dealers from all over the country come to sell.

And inbetween those towns are even more towns with more antique shows, shops & events happening. From everything I’ve read, there is more to see than is humanly possible.

It’s that BIG.

What started out as Antique Weekend has now grown to include at least 2 full weeks, March 23-ish through April 2-ish, with some shows running before and after those dates.

From what I’ve seen online, in addition to all the great junkin', lots of junkin’ bloggers will be there too.

Garden Antiques Vintage is holding a blogger party in
Zapp Hall (a Warrenton venue).

And be on the lookout for Sue from Vintage Rescue Squad
(be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday if you see her!)

Links for additional information about Texas Antique Week:

AntiqueWeekend has easy-to-read maps of the area with a show directory for each town including show times, locations and tons of other information.

A fun-to-read history of Texas Antique Week from The Round Top Register, “the newspaper from
the biggest little town in Texas.”

Marburger Farm Antique Show is one of the biggest shows of Texas Antique Week. I love their VIB (Very Important Blogger) package that helps bloggers keep their readers up to date on the show!

Zapp Hall seems to be the unofficial headquarters for junkin', vintage bloggers who are also vintage dealers and it's the home of Junk Gypsies junKoRaMa PRom.

Wish I could be there this year so please do some junkin' for me -- I’ve got Texas Antique Week on my calendar for 2012!  -amy

  1. This would be a dream vacation for me. I don't need a beach or a fancy cruise, just give me a big shoppping cart and an even bigger truck!

  3. yep. Definitely a whole lot of junkin' fun! Our family had a house in Carmine, so every season we were there! Unfortunately, that's when I was a kid, so I wasn't too excited about the whole thing! I'll miss it this year as we're "across the pond", but next year we just might make it there again. -diane

  4. I'm leaving tomorrow for Antique Week! Yee ha! This is my 4th year going, and I'm still continually amazed. For those of you who are considering it, I say ABSOLUTELY go sometime (hopefully for the spring show, as that's the only time I can go). And let it be known, the first year I went it took me THREE DAYS just to shop the tiny town of Warrenton. You'll also make lifelong friends and see all your favorite bloggers, all of whom are HILARIOUS.

Thanks for the shoutout, Amy! XOX
